This year, in the 39th version of this iconic event, the Virgin Money London Marathon ’19 celebrated breaking the £1,000,000,000 mark!
Over 40,000 runners took to the streets to help towards this amazing milestone, and all those at the start point had the pleasure of using Portable Toilets Limited’s kit.
Logistics behind huge sporting event sanitation
Apart from the runners, probably the most visible aspect of the event is the sheer number of portable toilets at the start point, gracing Greenwich Park and Blackheath. Due to the logistical efforts of the team at Portable Toilets Limited however we are able to limit the impact on locals to only a few days. In fact, not a single portable toilet remains by the end of the Monday (the day after the event!).
Over a thousand portable toilets, portable urinals and luxury trailer mounted toilets are installed in this short timeframe to ensure that the runners have ample opportunity to start their run in the best possible frame of mind.
Continuing our emphasis on accessibility, this year again saw us supplying disabled portable toilets, accessible vacuum portable toilets, and our much sought-after High Dependency Unit’s with height adjustable beds and privacy screens, to the para athlete’s area. Access rights are hugely important to us as a business, as we continue to invest in this area of our fleet.
It’s almost unprecedented that over 1200 portable toilets, 600 portable urinals, multiple portable toilet trailers, along with the stock and tanker infrastructure to make the event happen, can be delivered and collected (safely) within these challenging timescales.
